Pig & Whistle Restaurant is a 16th century building, lovingly transformed into an award winning romantic restaurant and licensed for weddings and civil ceremonies. Our traditional venue is intimate and cosy, a home away from home, and the ideal location to celebrate the union of two loved ones with close family and friends. We’re the ideal choice for a small ceremony and a sit down meal for up to 30 people.
INDOORS & OUTDOORS
Our licensed spaces include five spaces including two rooms which hold 30 guests and can be interchanged for either the ceremony or food. Our gorgeous outdoor spaces are also licensed so in good weather your ceremony can be conducted on our sun terrace or on our courtyard which accommodates 30 guests.

Meet with our dedicated special events planner to help you create a bespoke and memorable experience leaving you with loving memories of your special day.
We’ll help you tailor your experience to suit your own style and requirements. Celebrate the whole day with a ceremony and reception, or marry at a nearby church and join us for your reception.

Essex Countryside
Located in north Chelmsford between Writtle and Broomfield, our sun terrace has stunning views across the Essex countryside, and the most magical sunsets, the ideal backdrop to your celebrations.
FABULOUS Food
Together with our chefs we’ll create a special menus using locally sourced ingredients to suit your tastes.
Our selection of fine wines and champagne will compliment your food choices and our traditional bar serves gins, cocktails, beers and ales.
TAKE A LOOK AROUND
All our restaurant interior is licensed to host your special ceremony. Our courtyard and sun terrace provide stunnings views across the Essex countryside.
ACCESSIBILITY
Our restaurant, including the toilet, is on one floor, but we are not adapted for wheelchair access. We have a few short steps around the restaurant including a small step at our front door.
